Obesity

Obesity is a modern world epidemic that seems to increase by the day around the world. It is mostly common in the western countries and has caused many deaths and fatal diseases.

An obese individual is someone who is significantly over weight and with a fat tissue build up around the belly, hips, breasts and thighs. In most cases, it can cause lack or very little movement and inactivity in addition to serious illnesses.

When a person weighs 20% over the ideal body weight, he or she is obese

It is disconcerting how it is becoming normal to see overweight people walking around the city but not many view obesity as a disease.

Diseases caused by obesity:

Obesity causes heart diseasetype 2 diabetesobstructive sleep apnea, certain types of cancer, and osteoarthritis.

The causes of obesity are primarily lack of physical activity, overeating and depression.

• Excessive intake of high calorie food

• Certain medications

Nutrition :

it takes a lot of courage for an obese person to regain health but it isn’t impossible.

BY changing lifestyle choices and applying new habits one can slowly take control of his life; once you start to see the benefits, you would want to do more.

Our bodies are meant to move, movement is the expression of life; when we stop moving we seize to exist.

A person struggling with obesity needs will power, whichcan only be achieved if the mind and thoughts are positive.

The foods that are especially beneficial are:

•Avoid cold drinks, fatty fried foods and chocolates.

•Fruits and green vegetables are low calorie foods, so over weight persons should use these more frequently include the green leafy vegetables, sprouted moong beans in your salad. • Exercise
is an important part of weight reduction plan. It helps to use up calories stored in body as fat. In addition, it also relieves tension and tones up the muscles of the body.

I recommend that the person should seek advice before taking up exercise. The bones and joints should be tested before performing any activity.

Overweight can put a lot of pressure on knees and feet; to begin with I advice doing some foot and knee strengthening Pilates work before heading to the treadmill.

It is important that the body doesn’t get pushed to severe exercises that could damage and cause injury and leaves the person frustrated and in pain.

To achieve a positive and healthy mindset relaxation and oxygen are key nutrients to help bring balance in your life.

You can slowly increase physical activity in daily life and start by walking; half an hour can be sufficient in the early stages.

It is important to practice movement with a gentle pace, such as tai chi, many forms of yoga, and perhaps a light amount of dance aerobics and resistance training (weights).

Practice yoga, meditation, and pranayama (breathing exercises) daily.
